empathy
My psychotherapy practice is rooted in empathy and compassion first and foremost. You will not be talking to a robot, but a heart-open individual who deeply wishes to see you thrive with joy and balance.

I blend the western clinical psychology world with various layers of consciousness through my in-depth study of spirituality, yoga, Humanistic Psychology, Dream Analysis, and Depth Psychology. I am a seeker of spirituality, lifeforce, and wisdom. During my Bachelor’s Degree I studied Cognitive-Behavioral psychology, Taoism, and Zen Buddhism. For my Master’s Degree, it was Clinical Humanistic-Existential Psychology. My thesis was about the spiritual benefits of interpreting synchronicity. My Doctorate work focused on the integration of Carl Jung’s literature and the tenants of motivational interviewing: Transformative Communication.
I feel most alive and purposeful in the role of a learner - this is why I approach our sessions with open curiosity and a willingness to learn your truth, and help you discover your path of growth.
I have been recording my dreams since the year 2000 and have learned how to intentionally evoke answers from them. It’s an exploration of the soul, as is my intentional work with you. I’ve practiced various types of sitting meditation, visualization, guided meditations, thinking meditations, and journaling. I am a lifelong learner of psychological theory, self-improvement, and culture.
I grew up climbing trees and exploring forests and sand dunes. My secret, sacred places have always been in the woods, on the beach, hiking in mountains, and rafting rivers. I have been discerning about where I have allowed my career to take me, and privileged to have lived in rural Michigan, rugged Wyoming, and environmentally diverse Oregon. Accepting employment where nature abounds is by design. I am full and content in the glory of nature. It is this very essence that I work to embody in my psychotherapy practice, so that you may become more in tune with your unique nature.

Training & Experience in Counseling & Psychotherapy
1997-2000 As an intern psychologist I provided individual therapy for adolescent and adult clients with various problems including depression, anxiety and psychosis. I administered and interpreted both standardized and projective psychological testing instruments and conducted structured and informal interviews with child and adolescent victims and perpetrators of psychological and physical abuse for expert witness testimonies.
1998-2001 I facilitated individual therapy, didactic and interactive cognitive-behavioral group therapy and provided evaluation and counseling with inmates and their families.
2001-2005 I developed and implemented the Treatment of Addiction and Criminal Thinking (TACT) Program to service all correctional facilities in the state of Wyoming with substance abuse evaluation, cognitive behavioral therapy, and rational-emotive therapy. During this period I led case consultations and facilitated cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic group therapy with groups of up to 15 inmates for 3-6 months at a time.
2005-2010 I received experiential training in the therapeutic community model and in motivational interviewing. I facilitated therapeutic meetings and peer-led treatment groups as I maintained full caseloads in both female and male adult offender clients.
2010-2015 I was employed as Clinical Supervisor of the Providence Portland Chemical Dependency Stabilization Unit in Portland, Oregon. My position at Providence offered opportunities to interact with clients, including motivational interventions, milieu and conflict management, and demonstrating group facilitation techniques to counseling staff.
2011-2016 I received training in depth psychotherapy at Pacifica Graduate Institute. I completed all course work including case formulation and presentation. My training includes both Freudian and Jungian theories and I am partial to Jungian Analysis.

Model/Approach & the Therapeutic Relationship
My approach to therapy is from a depth psychological perspective. As a therapist, my role is to guide clients toward self-awareness of their strengths and challenges to self-healing. I use reflective listening to encourage client analysis of relationship transference, dreams, and active imagination to challenge unproductive patterns of thinking and feeling, and to develop self-efficacy. The client and therapist collaborate together to recognize meaningful connections between personal and collective realms of the psyche, which guide goal development and planned termination of the therapeutic episode. It is not uncommon that clients feel worse before they feel better during the course of treatment. Often when a client thinks about quitting therapy it is a crucial time to continue; negative feelings are inevitable during a process of transformation. Mutually planned termination of therapy is a measure of commitment to self-exploration and discovery of individual human potential.
